I would like to say a special warm welcome to the new members of our congregation, and thank them for joining us today. First of all I am pleased to inform you that Mrs Butterworth is now on the mend after her ordeal and the object has now been removed.
There is a verse in Psalm 69:9 that says, “Zeal for your house will consume me." Unfortunately nobody knew what it meant.
As the time of the Jewish Passover was coming upon them, Jesus went to Jerusalem to the Temple. But when he arrived, he found that there were people in the temple that were selling cattle, doves and sheep. Seeing this, Jesus became upset and made a whip and drove the men out of the temple area and overturned their tables. He said, “How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market! There's poo all over the carpet now. I'll never get that out!" The Jews were angry that he would destroy the market they had set up. Infact they were pissed off. They demanded that he show them some sort of miracle to prove that he had the authority over the priests to do what he had done. Jesus said unto them "No"
"Oh go on" they replied
Jesus looked at them and said, “Destroy this temple and I will rebuild it in 3 days.”
The Jews wondered what on earth this man was on about! Afterall they were only selling blooming sheep!
The Jews thought this was preposterous as it was an impossible feat. Even if he enlisted the help of DIY SOS. However, Jesus wasn’t speaking about the physical temple they were standing in, but he was talking about himself. That was what he reckoned even though nobody else seemed to get it. He was speaking of when he would be crucified and resurrected in three days. When Jesus was crucified the Jews said unto each other "Oh, now I get it!
Let us pray. Amen
